By providing a wide variety of raw data, a SAR simulator helps scientists to assess image processing algorithms, SAR systems and SAR modes under various conditions. It also helps governmental agencies to understand the geometry and radiometry of SAR images. In presence of dynamic scenes, the signature of a moving target is affected by its velocity. In this context, crossrange offsets and defocus effects might appear in the final image. A SAR simulator must take these effects into account to produce realistic images for the background and all targets in the scene. We will describe how a SAR simulator has been improved to carefully tackle this problem. Keywords: SAR simulation, Moving targets, Automatic 3D modelling.
