Inhalt:
The design of a highly sensitive acoustic sensor with mammalian hearing characteristics is of great interest in order to understand and describe the natural phenomena of hearing. Recent evidences have shown that the nonlinear amplification process in the cochlea can be reproduced with Hopf-type amplifiers. In this paper we present a highly flexible digital adaptation of an analog Hopf cochlea model. This digital model shows the crucial nonlinear cochlea effects such as two tone suppression and combination tone generation. With the implementation of the proposed model on a digital signal processor, auditory studies can be performed in real time, using complex input stimuli.
