Inhalt:
In this paper, the broadcast nature of wireless communication is exploited and cooperative communication is established by developing energy efficient routing algorithms. For networks consisting of battery driven devices the considered cooperation increases the network’s life time. It is assumed that each node in the network is equipped with a single omnidirectional antenna and multiple nodes are overheard as long as their transmission is meaningful for the receiving node. Furthermore, each node has a limited transmit power and uses Decode-and-Forward (D&F) relaying protocol with repetition coding. Each node uses maximum-ratio combining to add signals from different channels. An ideal capacity achieving coding scheme is assumed. Under these settings, we propose routing algorithms that exploit the wireless broadcast advantage and use transmit power efficiently. The power consumption of the proposed algorithms is compared with an existing algorithm. The simulation results show, the proposed algorithm reduce total transmit power compared with the existing algorithm. We have also shown where our algorithm and the existing algorithm is beneficial for a line topology.
