In recent years, Generation of heat per rack is increasing why ICT equipment can be densely packed in data centers. The heat output of racks in data centers is not uniform, and high exothermic racks may be localized. The effects of these racks on racks around them are a cause for concern. To properly maintain the temperature environment in front of ICT equipment, it is necessary to investigate air conditioning methods after understanding the effects of high exothermic racks on ambient temperature. In this study, we investigated the effects of air flow systems and air–conditioning air volume on the temperature environment by conducting experiments with the layout of high exothermic racks and the heat output as parameters. Two types of air flow systems were tested: raised floor air distribution system inhaled from a ceiling and raised floor air distribution system inhaled from under a ceiling.
