In the second half of 2012 some German mobile operators started to roll-out and test joyn applications [1,2] to respond to several over-the-top applications like Skype or WhatsApp. Also in other European countries RCSe applications are launched, e.g. Vodafone Spain started a Β Testing Program in 2012 [3]. RCSe (Rich Communications Suite enhanced) is a standard suite for “All-IP- Applications” designed for mobile telecom networks, based on SIP signaling and RCSe Application Servers in an IMS environment. This paper presents the results of an evaluation study of operational joyn applications. We have developed passive joyn testing probes for Android systems to monitor the behavior, performance and quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) of current joyn APPs. Monitoring test series have been performed to collect first results on the behavior and the performance of joyn APPs in mobile networks.
