Inhalt:
In this paper we consider the design of broadband wireless systems with high power efficiency. For this purpose we employ magnitude modulation (MM) techniques for single carrier (SC) signals, to reduce the PAPR of the transmitted signals, combined with powerful low-density parity check (LDPC) codes and iterative frequency-domain equalization based on the IB-DFE concept (Iterative Block Decision Feedback Equalization) that are particularly effective on dealing with the severe distortion of multipath time dispersive channels. Different turbo frequency domain equalization schemes are proposed and their performance compared with the combination of MM-IB-DFE and a LDPC iterative decoder. It is shown that for the case of transmissions employing channel coding, considerable efficiency gains above 2dB can be obtained from using MM with no added complexity to the turbo IB-DFE receiver
