This paper describes two examples on how sensor systems have been integrated into 8 mm and 15 mm diameter microdrives for commutation and positioning tasks. During development, emphasis was placed specifically on the cost effective mounting technology which, to the greatest extent possible, excluded costly processes and components. "Highest precision only where it truly benefits the application". The precision of the sensor system required for customers was thereby systematically improved.
