Inhalt:
IGBT switching speed defines the performance of the power semiconductor device as well as it influences the efficiency and the electromagnetic emissions of a power converter system. Thus, a driver which allows to flexibly tune the IGBT switching speed through control of transient voltage and current slopes is desirable to adjust the trade-off between power device’s switching losses and EMI behaviour. This paper describes the application of a gate driver with adjustable gate current for flexible switching speed control in a power converter system and the benefit obtained in switching losses and conducted EMI compared to a standard IGBT gate driver.
