This paper presents a wireless anti-theft alarm system approach based on autonomous glass break detection. The appropriate wireless sensor node is fully powered by thermoelectric energy harvesting. A small scaled off-the-shelf thermoelectric generator is applied for harvesting thermal ambient energy. This energy scavenging is optimized by a self-sufficient and self-starting integrated energy conditioning circuitry which is fabricated in a 0.35 µm CMOS process. This energy conditioning circuitry also manages the powering of the wireless glass break sensor node. Moreover, energy efficient radio transmission developed for automobile safety systems is applied in order to complete the autonomous wireless glass break sensor node operation.
