This paper presents a new robot-based repair process for aircraft combustion chambers. To automate the existing process, different tasks have to be addressed. These tasks in chronological order are modelling of the manual process, identification of process steps with high potential for automation, development of an automatable process, selection of a suitable manufacturing system and realization of identified process steps.
