The paper presents partial update based MIMO equalization for digital PMD compensation of 16-QAM signals. The equalization performance is analyzed by simulating a 224 Gb/s PDM-16-QAM system. The proposed MIMO technique significantly reduces the equalizer complexity for almost the same equalization performance.
