This paper investigates the impact of wind turbines on SAR-GMTI inside a wind farm. Wind turbine SAR signatures were examined using time-frequency analysis and along-track interferometric techniques. The interference from rotating blades was found to be significant to very severe depending on the imaging geometry and wind conditions. An interference mitigation algorithm was devised and its effectiveness demonstrated using RADARSAT-2 Moving Object Detection Experiment (MODEX) data.
