PAZ is the Spanish space based SAR system part of PNOTS program. PAZ instrument design is based on a new Xband Active Electronic Steering Antenna and recurrent platform and back-end electronics from TanDEM-X. In order to assure correct SAR system operation, CALVAL centre shall include instrument characterization/calibration/verification capabilities mainly driven by engineering aspects inherited from precursors TerraSAR/ TanDEM-X. This paper summarizes PAZ instrument on-ground characterization and calibration results achieved in the frame of PAZ Ground segment CALVAL centre activities. Main results cover first on-ground antenna model validation, automatic TRM monitoring results, internal calibration analysis and a preliminary system performance budget update including latest characterisation results.
