Inhalt:
This paper addressed fundamental issues out of the field of chipless wireless temperature sensing based on passive electromagnetic structures. A significant advantage of chipless sensor technology is that it allows higher operation temperatures than silicon chips based tags. However, the presented algorithms, sensing principles and data modulation techniques are applicable to all other measurands as long as suitable transducers exist. After explaining the fundamental functional principle of this class of sensors a classification approach for different types of sensors based on the used modulation scheme is presented. This section is complemented with a description of different approaches for radar clutter suppression and an overview of implemented tags for temperature sensing that also shows the applicability of these techniques. Furthermore two concrete tag implementations are discussed in detail.
