Inhalt:
Present cities are facing both technological and economic challenges caused by globalization and integration processes. Hence, cites with intelligent solutions towards so called “smart cities” need to be developed. The electric power supply system is an essential infrastructure in smart city developments. The enormous growth of distributed generation (DG), in particular from photovoltaic (PV) panels, pushes the distribution grids to their limits. Primarily a considerable number of low voltage (LV) grids are experiencing congestion issues. Power management (PM) is seen as an attractive countermeasure. PM introduces smartness into LV grids and enables smart cities. In this paper, PM is investigated and assessed under the Smart Grid Metrics framework (SGM).
