Several field trials have been launched in 2010 in France for testing on site the deployment of FTTH in 100 % of the homes and professional sites in medium density areas. Among the 5 selected sites in 2010 is Chevry-Cossigny, a 4.000 inhabitants city, 30 km east of Paris. The deployment of the fibers has been realized in 2011 and 2012, under the leadership of the council of the concerned department (Seine & Marne) via a complex scheme of financing. Three years later, it has been decided to realize a complete network in the city of Palaiseau, located 30 km south of Paris. Its population is 30.000 inhabitants. The originality of Palaiseau project is that in this case, it had been decided to dismantle the copper network. In other words, all the city inhabitants and professionals have no choice: they are connected to the fiber network, with all the consequences (commercial sales of the services, maintenance, extensions, mapping. In other words, the telecom infrastructure is exclusively based on the fiber network).
