In this paper, a dynamic model of the German power system is presented which can be used to analyse the impact of three-phase short-circuits in the extra high voltage level on the power system behaviour. The model is set up in PSS NETOMAC and can be used for RMS-simulation. It represents all voltage levels from 380 kV to 0.4 kV and all generating units, including conventional power plants, PV and wind energy units. It is thereby possible to estimate the amount of short-circuit current provided by distributed generation depending on different stationary control strategies such as cosphi(P) and Q(U), as well as total reactive current injection during the fault period. The accompanied effect on voltage stability and short-circuit power can also be investigated. Furthermore, the power of PV and wind energy units within the low voltage level that are disconnected due to voltages lower than 0.8 pu can be determined.
