An enhanced back projection algorithm is proposed for linear frequency diverse array (FDA) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging. Theoretical framework of FDA SAR is presented. A new mathematical model is established and the special property of space variant range offset is detailed deduced. Two innovative solutions called bulk phase compensation (BPC) and adptive focusing (AF) are presented and combined in the imaging algorithm. Simulations are executed and all results proved that, the enhanced back projection algorithm can not only eliminate the geometrical distortion in image easily, but also enlarge the imaging area by focusing each pixel in the image adaptively.
