Robotics nowadays presents similarities with computation fields where semantic networks and ontologies have been traditionally applied, such as artificial intelligence and Semantic Web. This work proposes practical methods to allow data representation abstraction and easy compatibility between heterogeneous software and hardware components through a reusable and extensible plugin-based client-server software architecture.
