Inhalt:
The competition for the European stone industry got stronger over the last years. Traditional artistic processing techniques are still important but very expensive due to the necessary skill-level and challenging physical requirements. Thus we developed a robot based approach to automate traditional techniques with the goal of reducing the amount of repetitive work for highly trained craftsmen. We first present the analysis steps for traditional processing techniques. Based on these we developed a production concept. Furthermore we will describe the software concept we used to disseminate our research results in the creative industry. The concept is divided in technology and design specific functions so designers without robotic knowledge and masonry skills can create their ideas. Concluding, we will show examples of processed stones which show the possibilities of our approach.
