In this paper, we introduce an interference alignment (IA) and free-space optics (FSO) based backhaul network. The system consists of K pairs and two base-stations acting as amplify-and-forward (AF) relays. The users are connected to the base-stations through radio-frequency (RF) links, while the two base-stations are connected via an FSO backhaul link. The IA technique is employed to enable the users to share the concurrent time slot simultaneously and hence increase the degree of freedom (DoF) of the system. Moreover, in order to perform IA calculations, a center node should be selected. Therefore, IA adaptive algorithm is proposed to select the center user aiming at maximizing the network sum-rate. Simulations show that IA based algorithms achieve significant sum-rate increase compared to other conventional schemes such as time division multiple access technique.
