Inhalt:
In this paper, we study the precoding for generalized spatial modulation (GSM) in indoor line-of-sight (LOS) millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications. Indoor LOS mmWave channels are typically characterized by a strong LOS path and weak sparsely-scattered non-LOS (NLOS) paths. This is considerably different from low-GHz indoor LOS channels, where NLOS paths usually have a significant influence. Owing to this, we propose a simple precoder that is purely based on phase shifting to improve the symbol error probability (SEP) of GSM in LOS channels. Simulation results show that the proposed precoder can improve the SEP of GSM with low-order in-phase and quadrature (IQ) constellations by 1–2 orders of magnitude. In addition, we propose a transmitter (TX) architecture for implementation of GSM with the proposed precoder.
