Inhalt:
SDN is an enabling technology for the core network of 5G. This opens the question how QoS for different applications like VoIP or M2M communication is going to be provided using SDN. The topic of QoS also arises in one form or another in any SDN network, which eg. delivers QoS-sensitive XaaS from the cloud to its users. This paper analyses the QoS related mechanisms and protocols as defined by the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), in particular Open-Flow. Moreover, the actual implementation of these concepts by an available SDN-controller and SDN-capable switches is analyzed by implementations of respective test scenarios. QoS parameters of individual flows in an SDN can be controlled by the applications generating the data to be transmitted. This paper presents results of a proof-of-concept implementation of an SDN-App for VoIP. This SDN-App evaluates SIP signaling to perform pro-active push of flows for UDP/RTP media streams.
