Inhalt:
New technologies, such as HVDC-links and phasor measurement units (PMU) will play a major role in future transmission system operation. Furthermore, the increasing number of distributed generation units and a growing number of decommissioned conventional power plants introduce smaller time constants into the power system, which leads to a higher rate of possible contingencies. The time to react on critical faults decreases. New methods for the next generation of power system monitoring and control systems need to be developed and implemented into control centers. This paper introduces a new development platform for control center functionalities. It discusses the state of the art control center technology and introduces first new applications for the next generation of control centers for AC-HVDC systems.
