Potentials of SAR Calibration Satellite Network in Spaceborne SAR External Calibration

Recently some new types spaceborne SAR systems has been launched or planed to be launched, such as Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) SAR, polar and ocean regions observation SAR, NanoSAR. In case of external calibration for these SAR systems, traditional techniques will be faced with new challenges, and new calibration devices and approaches are required. The concept of SAR calibration satellite network is introduced in this paper, and its potential applications are proposed. Some key technical issues are also summarized.
