The curved relative trajectories between Geosynchronous SAR and targets cause spatial variance in echoes complicated to deal with. A modified polynomial slant range model with spatial variance ratios is presented to describe the relative trajectory, which is used to analyse the spatial variance in the 2-dimensional frequency domain. Based on the analysis, a fourth-order nonlinear chirp scaling algorithm, aiming to remove the spatial variance of phases, is proposed. Then the whole swath can be focused well in the frequency domain. Simulations demonstrate the algorithm proposed can acquire the resolution of 2 m with 100 km swath or 5 m with 2000 km swath.
