Airbus Defence & Space has developed a Spaceborne SAR Rawdata Simulation Environment, which can be used for imaging performance testing and end-to-end data flow testing during satellite assembly, integration and test phase. The simulation environment provides flexible radar instrument parametrization reflecting the functionality of state-of-the-art and future phased array radar instruments. Also the satellite orbit may be configured flexibly. This way, the simulation environment allows to generate pointtarget rawdata for various satellite orbits, phased array radar instruments and operating modes. The simulation environment applies an atmospheric model, a digital elevation model as well as an instrument and antenna model. The paper shows the architecture and the features of the simulation environment as well as example focusing results.
