It is known that L-band radar wave can penetrate into forest to some extent and bring back information inside forest. When flooding occurs in forested area, the inundated area becomes bright in SAR image due to the increase of double bounce between tree trunk and water surface in the forest. This phenomenon was verified again by ALOS2 quad-pol data over Amazon flood plains to show wetland boundary. The model-based scattering power decomposition was applied to river basin along Amazon, which retrieves the double bounce scattering power explicitly. The decomposition image clearly shows the boundary of riverbed caused by flooding.
