Inhalt:
An extension of the Electromagnetic Levitator (EML) to be operated on-orbit in the Columbus Laboratory of the International Space Station (ISS) is shown. The fully autonomous oxygen sensing and control system (OCS) bases on high-temperature yttria-stabilized zirconia electrolytes and enables precise measurement and adjustment of oxygen partial pressure within 10-1 to 10-24 bar in the EML processing gas. The principle of operation as well as system design required for the operation at ISS are discussed.
