In this paper, the influence of cutting edges on the core losses and magnetizing current in induction machines is illustrated. An investigation of the influence of different cutting methods on the core losses and magnetization demand is presented in [1]. The results from the measurements are integrated in an analytical and numerical electromagnetic model. Three induction machines are numerically simulated to compare the results of the numeric and semi-analytic calculations. The semi-analytical calculation procedure is transferred on 850 induction machines (IM). The analytically calculated core losses and magnetizing current are compared with no load measurements.
