In this paper, a novel wideband Wilkinson power divider operating in the 28 GHz and 39 GHz frequency bands for 5G applications is presented. Thin-film technology on a Quartz glass substrate is applied to reduce both costs and impact of tolerances on the performance of the components. Very compact size (3 mm x 2.7 mm) is achieved by using tapered transmission line structures. The design procedure is validated by means of measurements on a fabricated prototype. Very low insertion loss (-3.7 dB) and return loss (-11 dB) after 3 dB equal power splitting, as well as isolation between the ports below -12 dB, are achieved over the entire frequency range (20 GHz - 45 GHz).
