AIS Assisted Sentinel-1 SLC Image Ship Detection, Motion and Displacement Estimation

The article discusses an algorithm for processing complex SLC images of marine targets obtained at the output of Sentinel -1. The detection of maritime targets is based on AIS data and SLC targets chips export with ESA SNAP. The processing is done in MATLAB with ship detection and evaluation of its heading and speed. Experimental results are presented. Comparison of the SAR estimated ship target parameters is done with data from AIS system. The limitations of the proposed method are discussed.
