Inhalt:
The vast increase of renewable energy generation in distribution systems leads to new challenges for power system operation. To encounter these challenges with a minimum amount of grid expansion, power system operation must be optimized by adapting new degrees of freedom, flexibilities and innovative operational strategies. To support distribution system operators, assistant systems as new control center applications could provide information, recommendations or fully automated countermeasures for certain events. This manuscript introduces the preventive islanding capability assessment as an informative assistant system that increases the operational flexibilities of a power system and has the potential to improve power system security for certain network parts. Therefore, the concept of such an approach is presented and potential use cases are discussed.
