Our project Integrated Mining Impact Monitoring (i2Mon) intends to monitor mining-induced impact, in particular, of ground deformation. The aim is to launch an interactive GIS-based platform as an early warning and decision making system for mining industry. This paper focuses on work package 2 – Space and Airborne Remote Monitoring. The test result using Sentinel-1 images demonstrates the ground movement around the deactivating openpit coal mine owned by LEAG in Cottbus, Germany. The following plan involves the comparison with the measurement at corner reflectors. In addition, our preparation for the test site of underground mining in Poland will be also described.
