In this abstract, we present a new electromechanical model for bi-phased piezo inertia motors developed by Physik Instrumente (PI). A simplified RLC (resistor, inductor and capacitor) circuit is adopted to model piezoelectric ceramic electrically. In the electric model, the current flowing through the piezoelectric ceramic during the slip phase of the inertia drive is solved analytically. Using piezoelectric constitutive equations, the position change is obtained with respect to slip time. We analyze the slip phase of the piezo inertia drive using the nature of the friction condition and types. Both electrical and mechanical models are combined to get a nonlinear differential equation, which provides the relationship of piezo motor position change with respect to slip time.
