Inhalt:
After activation, shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators are dependent on a biasing mechanism or an antagonistic partner to apply a restoring force to bring the SMA element back to its initial position. This force is often provided by a mechanical spring or an inertial mass. In more complex actuator constructions, a second SMA element is used as an antagonistic partner. In this setup, the first SMA element is restored by heating the second one. This has the disadvantage of high restoring times due to the fact, that the first SMA element has to cool down bevor heating the second one. The content of this work deals with the design as well as the construction of two decoupled antagonistic rotatory actuators. The decoupled design allows to activate the second SMA element immediately after the first one. One of the presented actuators enables a 90 deg rotation via a gear drive. The second actuator uses a bistable element to accelerate a device impulsively. A quick back and forth movement can be detected in both actuators.
