Inhalt:
This paper demonstrates how to consider temporal restrictions of the employed market- and grid-related technology portfolio in congestion management optimization. An iterative procedure is proposed that allows to simulate the successive determination and implementation of preventive (pre-fault) and curative (post-fault) actions according to today’s operational planning processes of the German Transmission System Operators. The time-related characteristics, namely lead times for implementation and power gradients, are derived per technology from literature. Furthermore, a method is presented to derive the available control ranges on this basis and to incorporate them into the optimization procedure. The influence of considering temporal restrictions on the potential of curative congestion management is analyzed in a case study using a generic study framework developed based on the IEEE 118 bus system.
