The energy transition leads to an increase in the number of renewable energy sources (RES), whereas the number of synchronous generators will decrease until they are switched off. The adjustment of the power grid operation in the new framework is required. A perspective method for the power system operation is the power system operation with angle-based control. The provision of the balancing power in the power grid operation with angle-based control depends on the electrical distance to the location of the load change. The allocation of the balancing power among the voltage source converters (VSCs) can be influenced by a droop control. This paper shows how droop control can affect the allocation of the balancing power among the VSCs in the case of power system operation with angle-based control. The study case is carried out in the modified 39-bus New England system.
