An integrated analysis of automated low-voltage strategic grid planning under consideration of a cross-sectoral renewal planning

The aim of renewal and expansion planning is to prepare the grids for future challenges. This paper analyses the influence of the integration of renewal plannings on the results of an automated strategic grid planning. The renewal planning is implemented to enable an optimal renewal of all sectors in the respective grids. The automated strategic grid planning is carried out with an automated software using an evolutionary genetic algorithm. The software plans the expansion of ten real grids with nine different planning measures. The optimisation objective is to find the most cost-effective planning variant for each grid. These optimisations are performed with and without the renewal planning. The results of this paper show that different planning measures benefit to varying degrees from the integration of the renewal planning into the strategic grid planning. In the majority of the grids, this leads to a change in the order of the most cost-effective expansion variant and should be taken into account when choosing the best planning measure.
