Lightning accounts for a large proportion of troubles in railway electrical equipment. Therefore, it is important to investigate lightning damage cases in railway electrical equipment in considering countermeasures. This paper describes lightning damage to railway power facilities that occurred in recent years in East Japan Railway Company.
