This paper explains how load profiles of electrical appliances can be used to identify the causes of peak loads at the grid connection point and how scenarios for reducing peak loads can be generated. The procedure for load profile optimization is demonstrated using real load profiles in the commercial sector. The paper compares and evaluates three different optimization methods for load profile optimization using several metrics. Finally, results from the load profile optimization are presented and financial savings potentials are worked out.
