Inhalt:
Third generation and beyond mobile networks have brought about a demand for new services that refrain from the traditional unicast communication model. These are services demanding transmission to many receivers with acceptable efficiency and quality. In such networks radio resource management is a set of mechanisms responsible for maintaining quality of service over the radio interface. Power Control is the mechanism responsible for keeping signal interference at minimum levels and ensuring an adequate quality of service level so that the percentage of dropped calls is kept below the acceptable thresholds. The novelty of this work is proposing new approaches for efficient power control in the case of multicast services for 3G and beyond mobile networks, demonstrating simultaneously the tradeoff between the number of users and the average distance from the Node B when transmitting to a multicast group.
