WLAN IEEE 802.11 standards are living at present a popularity momentum, but this fact is translated into a new headache to network administrators. The more WLAN networks there are in a region, the more interference they will suffer, and that means an evident decrease in their performance. In this paper we present the application of a new distributed algorithm for the frequency assignment problem in 802.11 networks which is intended to reduce interferences among cells. In addition the proposed algorithm has been implemented and tested in commercial Access Points obtaining the expected results.
