The Q.E.D project (QoS enhanced development using UML2.0 and TTCN-3) developed at the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg offers methods to derive test cases from UML2 sequence diagrams. These are converted to a markov chain usage model which represents the estimated usage of the system. Through annotating the outgoing transitions of a state with probabilities test cases can be generated automatically according to their expected occurrence frequency. So scenarios can be used both for specification as well as testing. This paper describes the process for building a test suite with the Q.E.D. tools for the DHCI protocol (DECT Host Controller Interface) of the DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication) module M5 developed at Fraunhofer IIS. To reach this goal scenarios for DHCI had to be created. These were converted to the Markov Chain usage model which was the basis for the test case creation. The actual test cases in the form of UML2 sequence diagrams were converted to TTCN-3 (Testing and Test Control Notation version 3) and executed on the M5 modules. The information gained from these test runs can be used to estimate the reliability of the system under test.
