Inhalt:
At the risk of overusing R. Feynman’s famous quote, the paper argues that there is “plenty of room at the bottom” for computational electromagnetics. Nanoscale simulation examples range from molecular and particle dynamics to magnetically driven assembly of particles, and from photonic crystals and plasmon nanoparticles to scanning near-field optical microscopy and sensor technology. In addition to traditional techniques such as FEM, the new finite-difference calculus of Flexible Local Approximation MEthods (FLAME) is used in some applications.
