The potential of the frequency correlation function (FCF) for parameter inversion of random media and rough surfaces has been demonstrated in previous works. Nevertheless, the oriented morphology present in some agricultural crops has not been still addressed. It is known that the backscatter response is strongly affected by the vertical orientation of the structure of plants such as maize or rice, since the propagation becomes anisotropic. The aim of this work is to analyze the potential of the frequency correlation function for inversion of biophysical parameters from maize plants. Besides, the dimensionality of the inversion procedure will be increased by adding the phase information of the FCF function. The effect of the crosspolar channel in the retrieval process will be also studied.
