Inhalt:
In this contribution and a companion paper (Koch, W., Klemm, R., Nickel, U.: Single ground target tracking with adaptive monopulse, Part II: The tracker), aspects of ground target tracking by means of an airborne radar are discussed. The radar sensor is based on a multichannel array antenna to enable the use of space-time adaptive processing (STAP) for clutter rejection, and an angle and Doppler monopulse procedure. Both the STAP and adaptive monopulse algorithms are expanded. Some results achieved for a typical radar-target scenario are presented. The paper will be continued by "Koch, W., Klemm, R., Nickel, U.: Single ground target tracking with adaptive monopulse, Part II: The tracker", in which a tracking algorithm based on the STAP-monopulse estimates is described and some tracking results are given.
