The paper deals with basic principles, technical characteristics and performance of spaceborne ultra wideband short pulse SAR (UWB-SP SAR). A new terrain model for SAR simulation has been developed. The results of UWB-SP SAR phenomenological modelling are presented as well as expected spaceborne UWB SAR parameters.
