The relative height accuracy was evaluated for the digital surface model (DSM) generated from airborne Polarimetric and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (Π-SAR) data. The X-band system of Π-SAR is equipped with two antennas (baseline length is 2.3 m), and has a cross track interferometric function. We compared the height derived from Π-SAR DSM with that from optical stereo data, and noticed that the retrieved height of Π-SAR DSM had about 6 m of root mean square (RMS) error, and the error increased as the targets became taller. This study indicated the potential utilization of airborne Π-SAR data for accurate surface modelling of the urban areas.
