Recently, multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) techniques have received a lot of attention because of their high spectral efficiency. Recent studies have been focused on the practical implementation of these MIMO techniques. In this paper, a comparison of MIMO transceiver techniques such as Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP), zero forcing dirty paper coding (ZF-DPC) and vertical Bell Laboratories Layered Space-Time (V-BLAST) is performed. We consider the effect of practical impairments such as imperfect CSI (channel state information) and a transmit power constraint. If the total power is restricted at the transmitter for fairness, ZF-DPC performs worst among those techniques although it does not suffer modulo loss and error propagation. Due to the presubtraction of the spatial interference, precoding techniques like ZF-DPC and THP are more sensitive to the effect of imperfect CSI than V-BLAST.
